Chris “The Bear” Fallica went 2-3 last week with his college football picks. For week 2, he’s targeting several underdogs that he believes will cover the spread. Fallica shares why he likes these teams as sizable underdogs to keep the games close and potentially pull off upsets.
- No. 13 Oregon at Texas Tech (+6.5)
- Auburn at California (+6.5)
- Temple (+9.5) at Rutgers
- Troy (+16.5) at No. 15 Kansas State
- New Mexico State (+11) at Liberty
- Southern Miss (+31) at No. 4 Florida State
- Stanford at No. 6 USC (-29)
- Underdogs to play on the moneyline (Temple, Cal, Texas Tech, New Mexico State, NC State, Texas)
Chris ‘the bear’ Fallica Week 2 Picks
Oregon at Texas Tech (+6.5)
Fallica likes Texas Tech as a home underdog +6.5, citing the weirdness of playing in Lubbock and the extra motivation for QB Tyler Shough against his former team. He expects an overreaction to last week’s results that gives the Red Raiders plus the points.
Auburn at California (+6.5)
Fallica expects Cal’s offense to be improved under new coordinator Jake Spavital and for their quarterback and running back to give Auburn problems. He also praises Cal’s defensive coach and sees upset potential with California +6.5, with Auburn possibly missing players.
Temple (+9.5) at Rutgers
Fallica doesn’t believe much has changed for either team to justify Rutgers being nearly double-digit -9.5 favorites. He points to Rutgers’ continued offensive struggles and Temple’s defensive adjustments last week. He’ll take the points.
Troy (+16.5) at Kansas State
Fallica likes Troy +16.5 with an experienced defense, solid running game, and a coach who will motivate them as underdogs. He questions if Kansas State will overlook them with Missouri up next. He’ll take the big points.
New Mexico State (+11) at Liberty
Fallica sees New Mexico State +11’s offense bouncing back from turnovers last week to score enough to cover. He doesn’t believe Liberty’s narrow win over Bowling Green revealed much.
Southern Miss (+31) at Florida State
On a short week after beating LSU, Fallica doubts Florida State -31 will be fully focused to cover a 31-point spread. He sees Southern Miss capable of scoring 14 which should be enough.
Stanford at USC (-29)
Fallica doesn’t believe Stanford’s win against Hawaii revealed much. He expects USC to score around 50 points and for the game to get ugly, given Hawaii threw for 350 yards on the Cardinal defense. He sees the Trojans covering the -29 spread.
