Update: check here for Colin’s week 3 picks

Week 1 picks are always tough.  New season means more unknowns and more surprises with coaching staff and aging and emerging players.  With that said, Colin did go 2-3 overall last week.  Not a terrible start, but could be better.  Let’s see if Colin can do better in week 2.

Don’t forget to check out Cousin Sal’s week 2 picks, they actually didn’t overlap any picks this week.

THE HERD’S BLAZIN’ FIVE PICKS NFL 2016 WEEK 2:

[loser] Kansas City (+2.5) at Houston – Colin will take the points with the Chiefs.  KC has the edge in QB and coaching, and won 11 straight regular season games, Kelce could be a massive advantage for the Chiefs. KC will win its 12th straight regular season game 24-17.

[winner] Tennessee (+5.5) at Detroit – Detroit did well last week against an inferior Colts defense last week. This week going against a solid Titans defense, they completely shut down Adrian Peterson last week.  Mariota is great on the road with 10 TDs against 1 INT and 105.3 passer rating.  Detroits is terrible against the run, and Titans happens to have their dynamic duo at RB this season.  Lions will win 24-23 but will not cover the spread.

[winner] Atlanta (+4.5) at Oakland – Colin is a fan of this Raiders team, but not this week.  Raiders are still a young team, they are going up against a Falcons team with solid receivers and veteran QB.  Too many points to give up here, Atlanta wins the game outright 27-20.

[winner] Indianapolis at Denver (-6) – This game will not be close, Colin thinks Broncos will blowout Indy on the back of its elite defense.  Broncos have the cornerbacks to shut down Indy’s passing game, leaving it up to an aging Frank Gore to carry the offense this game.  Denver wins in a blowout 27-10.

[loser] Dallas at Washington (-2.5) – This will be a huge test for Dak Prescott, being his first professional road game.  Dallas has the best oline in football against weak Washington run defense, but the problem for Dallas is the solid Redskins defense.  Washington has elite players including Josh Norman and Ryan Kerrigan.  Teams that get humiliated the previous week on Monday Night Football tend to play better the following week.  Skins win 26-10.
