Last week I went 2-0 on my CFB picks. I sided with Penn State and Ohio State, both games were absolute blow outs from kickoff. We’re looking to keep that trend going this week, so here we go with our CFB week 6 picks.

Iowa @ Michigan

Sean’s Pick: Michigan -3.5

This week I’m riding with Michigan.

I know Michigan has been one of the surprises in CFB this season, and not a good surprise.

They have been extremely disappointing to watch. This season has included a blow out loss to Wisconsin and an overtime win over Army. So with these kind of showings, why am I backing Michigan against a top 15 team in the country?

Because I think this will be a statement win for Michigan.

It’s in the Big House, they’re coming off a 52 point blow out, and need to beat a top team to regain confidence from their fans.

Shea Patterson looked great against Rutgers, I know Rutgers is mediocre but the offense was actually beginning to click and I believe they can roll that over into this week.

Their defense also looked like they started to play as a team. They will need to be on their A-game if they want to slow down the Hawkeyes.

While Iowa has had a good start to the season, they haven’t really been challenged. They had a formidable opponent with Iowa State, but besides that they have played Rutgers, Middle Tennessee, and Miami Ohio. They only managed to beat Iowa State by 1 point.

I think Michigan has already hit their low point on the season and will be the biggest test Iowa has had so far.

Look for Jim Harbaugh to get this defense back to their old ways, Shea Patterson and the offense to start playing like we all know they can, and last but definitely not least. Look for the Big House to give Iowa some communication issues, and show them why it is called the Big House.

Take Michigan and back them for a statement win.

Lock in Michigan -3.5.

Michigan State @ Ohio State

Sean’s Pick: Ohio State -20

For the second straight week I’m backing Ohio State.

20 points against a ranked team is a lot, but not for this Ohio State team.

Last week they were -17 against Nebraska, people thought Nebraska would be able to challenge them and potentially pull off an upset.

This couldn’t have been further from reality.

Midway through the first quarter I was sitting there wishing I had put more money on the game. Ohio State looked absolutely lights out in every aspect of the game. Their receivers were creating separation, the offensive line was creating holes and giving Justin Fields all day to throw, Fields was seeing the field clearly, and using his legs when needed. This team looked amazing.

I would put them up there with Alabama and Clemson this year.

Michigan State on the other hand has looked good, but has shown some signs of weakness. The Spartans are coming in with a record of 4-1. Their only loss came against Arizona State. ASU is a tough opponent, but nowhere near the likes of OSU. They have also beaten Northwestern, Tulsa, Indiana, and Western Michigan.

Michigan State wins most of their games by dominating the air. Spartans QB Brian Lewerke has thrown for over 200 yards in all but one game, and over 300 yards in 2 of their 5 games.

One of the strengths of this OSU team is their secondary. Lewerke will have less time to throw, and way tighter windows to throw the ball into against this team. He will make some good plays, but will also make a lot of mistakes.

So, while 20 points is a lot. You are betting on a top 4 team in the nation, who’s last 4 games have all been 40+ point blowouts. I will back this Ohio State until they show me a reason not to.

Lock in OSU -20 at home.
