Colin Cowherd Week 3 2024 Blazing 5

Here are Colin Cowherd’s Blazing 5 picks:

  1. Giants (+6.5) at Browns (Winner)
  2. Broncos (+6.5) at Buccaneers (Winner)
  3. Seahawks (-4.5) vs Dolphins (Winner)
  4. Falcons (+3) vs Chiefs (Loser)
  5. Jaguars (+5) at Bills (Loser)

Giants +6.5 at Browns

Cleveland’s injury list is extensive, with 14 players affected, including key contributors. The Giants’ offensive line is performing well, providing Daniel Jones with solid protection.

Cleveland’s offense ranks 28th in the league, with Deshaun Watson completing only 58% of his throws. The Browns’ defense is one of only two in the league without a takeaway this year.

Cowherd questions how much better Watson is than Jones at this point, believing 6.5 points is too much to give.

He predicts a Giants win, 24-23.

Broncos +6.5 at Buccaneers

The Broncos are a desperate team with talent, but this pick is more about the Buccaneers’ weaknesses. Tampa Bay was outgained by Detroit by 250 yards and struggled on third down.

The Bucs’ defense is missing key players and has been underwhelming this season. Denver will face the weakest defense they’ve encountered so far, giving Russell Wilson time to throw.

Cowherd predicts a late Buccaneers win by field goal, but takes the Broncos to cover.

Seahawks -4.5 vs Dolphins

Cowherd is surprised by the narrow spread, focusing on Seattle’s dramatically improved defense under their new coordinator from Baltimore. The Seahawks’ defense is now top-rated according to PFF, allowing just 4 yards per play and holding opposing quarterbacks to a 61 passer rating.

In contrast, Miami’s Skylar Thompson has struggled, with just a 60 passer rating.

Cowherd expects Seattle to shut down Thompson, predicting a 28-17 Seahawks victory.

Falcons +3 vs Chiefs

This is Cowherd’s upset pick of the week. He views Atlanta as a strong team capable of winning their division. The Falcons have been efficient offensively, avoiding turnovers and gaining 6.6 yards per play with Kirk Cousins.

Kansas City faces its first road game, with Mahomes having a rough start to the season in passing yards and turnovers.

Cowherd believes Atlanta will win outright at home in a close game reminiscent of their victory over Philadelphia.

Jaguars +5 at Bills

Cowherd sees the Jaguars as better than their record suggests, with their season on the line at 0-2. He cites Greg Cosell’s positive assessment of Trevor Lawrence and expects improvement from Lawrence’s current 51% completion rate.

Jacksonville’s offense leads the league in big plays of 20+ yards. The Bills are dealing with significant defensive injuries, particularly at linebacker.

Cowherd likes Buffalo but thinks 5 points is too much against Jacksonville’s explosive offense, predicting a close 26-24 Bills win.
