Sports media personality Colin Cowherd is known for his bold predictions and strong opinions. But his Week 1 “Blazing Five” NFL picks completely missed the mark.

Cowherd revealed his five best bets for the opening NFL weekend on his Fox Sports radio show. He provided analysis and a predicted score for each game. However, none of Cowherd’s confident picks were even close to being right.

The first Blazing Five pick was taking the Pittsburgh Steelers +2.5 against the San Francisco 49ers. Cowherd predicted a 24-23 Pittsburgh win. Instead, the 49ers dominated in a 30-7 blowout victory.

Next was the Indianapolis Colts +4.5 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. Cowherd called for a 24-23 upset by the Colts. The Jaguars cruised to a 31-21 win.

Cowherd also backed the New England Patriots +4 at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. He saw the Patriots losing 27-26 but covering the spread. The Eagles won 25-20.

His only favorite was the Los Angeles Chargers -3 over the Miami Dolphins. Cowherd predicted a 28-23 LA win. The Dolphins shocked the Chargers 36-34.

Finally, Cowherd took the New York Giants +3.5 to “shock America” and beat the Dallas Cowboys 27-24. Instead, the Cowboys destroyed the Giants 40-0 on Sunday Night Football.

In total, Cowherd’s Blazing Five picks went 0-5 against the spread. His analysis and predicted scores were completely invalidated.

While sports betting advice should always be taken lightly, Cowherd’s complete whiff on his best bets for Week 1 made for an embarrassing start to the NFL season. It will be interesting to see if he can turn things around in the coming weeks.
