Colin Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 Picks: NFL Week 3 in 2025

Colin Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 picks for Week 2 didn’t go quite as planned, as he ended the week with a losing record. He started off on the wrong foot by backing the Titans at +5.5 against the Rams, only to watch Los Angeles cruise to a 33-19 win that covered the spread.

His call on the Seahawks and Steelers staying under 40.5 points also fell flat. Not only did the game go over (31-17), but Steelers rookie Kaleb Johnson made a costly mistake on a kickoff when he let the ball bounce over his head, which Seattle’s George Holani recovered in the end zone for a touchdown.

Colin took Denver −2.5 on the road in Indianapolis, but the Colts pulled off a 29-28 upset in a game that ended in controversy — though either way, the Broncos wouldn’t have covered the −2.5.

The bright spot came with his Eagles −1.5 pick at Kansas City, where Philadelphia pulled out a 20-17 victory, just enough to cover the spread and cash for Colin.

Finally, his player prop on CeeDee Lamb was one of his best calls of the week. Lamb hauled in 11 receptions, easily topping the over 6.5 mark that Colin had predicted.

That made his final record 2-3 for the week, with the Eagles and Lamb saving him from a total collapse. It wasn’t a disastrous performance, but falling below .500 leaves him with work to do moving forward.

Onto week 3…

Colin Cowherd Week 3 2025 Blazing 5

Rams at Eagles (+3.5 Rams)

Cowherd sees Los Angeles as the league’s best second-half team, led by Matthew Stafford, who currently sits atop the quarterback ratings. The Rams also boast the No. 1 scoring defense, holding both opponents under 20 points. With eight sacks spread across six defenders, the pass rush is balanced and relentless.

The Eagles, meanwhile, are stuck in neutral offensively. They’ve managed just three plays over 20 yards all season, despite Saquon Barkley and one of the league’s best offensive lines. That’s not enough firepower against an energized Rams unit that’s only getting stronger each quarter.

Cowherd’s call: Rams 27, Eagles 23. Take the points and the upset.

Steelers at Patriots (+1.5 Patriots)

New England comes in as a small home dog, and Colin loves the matchup. Rookie quarterback Drake Maye has played well enough, but it’s the Patriots’ defensive front, under Mike Vrabel’s leadership, that has impressed most. They’re stuffing the run and getting after the quarterback.

Pittsburgh, on the other hand, hasn’t had a running game in years, and Aaron Rodgers has already been sacked seven times in just two weeks. With the Steelers’ defense struggling badly on the back end—allowing 6.5 yards per play—Cowherd believes Rodgers will be forced into mistakes.

Cowherd’s call: Patriots 27, Steelers 23. New England straight up for the win.

Saints at Seahawks (-7.5 Seattle)

Seattle has held both of its opponents under 20 points, a sign of a stabilizing defense. On offense, Colin points to Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s emergence as a true No. 1 receiver, a solution to their preseason concerns. Sam Darnold, meanwhile, looks like an upgrade at quarterback behind a healthier offensive line.

The Saints, led by Spencer Rattler, remain winless against playoff-caliber teams. They’ve lost 17 straight games when allowing 20 or more points. With Rattler under 60 percent passing and the long trip to the Pacific Northwest, Colin sees trouble.

Cowherd’s call: Seahawks 28, Saints 20. A comfortable cover at home.

Cowboys at Bears (Over 50.5 total)

Rather than pick a side, Cowherd is hammering the over in Chicago. Dallas is thriving on third down, boasting the league’s best conversion rate. They shredded the Giants’ front and are beginning to carve out running lanes for Javonte Williams. Add in a monster season from CeeDee Lamb and the Bears’ leaky defense, and points are coming.

Chicago is giving up seven yards per play, and with cornerback Clayton Johnson sidelined, their secondary is ripe for attack. Too many three-and-outs from the Bears will leave the defense gassed in the second half.

Cowherd’s call: Cowboys 28, Bears 27. Dallas wins close, but the over cashes.

Lions at Ravens (-4.5 Ravens)

On Monday night, Colin falls back on one of his favorite rules: when Lamar Jackson hosts an NFC opponent, bet Baltimore. The Ravens enter with the league’s No. 1 scoring offense and a 7–1 record over their last eight home games. Ten of their last 13 wins at M&T Bank Stadium have come by more than a touchdown.

The Lions’ defense is surrendering nearly a 50 percent conversion rate on third downs, which Colin sees as a death sentence against Lamar and Derrick Henry. With Baltimore’s ability to control possession and grind down opponents, this line feels short.

Cowherd’s call: Ravens 30, Lions 23. Lay the points confidently.

Other Notes from the Week

Cowherd and J-Mac also touched on the Chiefs’ surprising offensive struggles. Kansas City is currently on the list of active streaks for most consecutive games under 30 points, alongside the Saints, Texans, and Jaguars. Colin wonders if fatigue is finally setting in after years of deep playoff runs and back-to-back Super Bowl wins. He compared it to baseball teams whose pitchers wear down after extended Octobers—eventually the juice runs out.

He still expects Kansas City to beat the Giants this weekend, but he questions whether the hunger and energy remain as sharp as in past seasons. Distractions, contracts, and the weight of history may finally be catching up to Mahomes and Andy Reid.

Final Word

This week’s slate has Cowherd confident:

  • Rams +3.5
  • Patriots +1.5
  • Seahawks -7.5
  • Cowboys-Bears Over 50.5
  • Ravens -4.5

J-Mac even teased that this could be Colin’s first 5–0 week in a while. Colin wasn’t ready to call it, but he admitted the board looks strong. One thing is clear: he’s put on the work boots again and is ready to dig out winners.
